Afternoon Tea at Claridge’s
– Art Deco Elegance

Afternoon Tea Claridges

Having afternoon tea at Claridge’s is an unforgettable experience for any London visitor.

Afternoon tea is the quintessential English experience and few places put on a better show than Claridge’s.

You can take your tea in the hotel foyer that boasts a lovely pale green and white art deco décor and a magnificent handcrafted glass chandelier by Dale Chihuly.

Tea is also served in the Reading Room where leather covered columns and suede walls create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.

Claridge’s has been awarded the UK Tea Council’s Award of Excellence every year since 2006 and is justifiably famous for their outstanding afternoon teas. Of course, having such a reputation means that making reservations for afternoon tea is a must and the earlier you book the better your chances of getting a table at a time of your choosing.

The first course of afternoon tea at Claridge’s is finger sandwiches. You can have as many of these crustless treats as you would like, and although the fillings are fairly typical teatime fare, their quality and taste make these sandwiches exceptional.

You can choose from 30 kinds of tea including the exclusive house blend called Claridge’s Royal.

You might like to take this opportunity to sample one of the Tregothnan English Estate Teas which are also available at Claridge’s. These teas are grown at the ancient Tregothnan Estate in Cornwall which has been producing botanical marvels for over 200 years.

Claridge’s also stocks the rare and unusual Royal White-Silver Needles Tea which is picked at dawn on only two days of the year and is processed completely by hand.

No afternoon tea would be complete without scones and clotted cream and Claridge’s version of this is beyond compare. They serve raisin and apple scones with Devonshire cream and a special tea-infused jam.

Claridge’s also provides a nice assortment of sweet pastries with their afternoon teas.

Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Easter all have Special Occasion Teas with extras like champagne, heart shaped treats, and hot cross buns.

Afternoon tea at Claridge’s is a wonderful treat that visitors to London should definitely try.
