Camden Market in London
- Get Your Goth On

Camden Markets London

Camden Market in London are a collection of adjoining markets located near the Hampton Road Lock, also known as Camden Lock, on Regent's Canal. Camden Lock Market is the original crafts market that was established here in 1974, and has been amazingly popular ever since.

The markets are open every day, but more vendor stalls are open on the weekends than during the week.

Sunday is the most popular and crowded day to visit the markets; in fact this success has led the Camden Town tube station to establish special entrance and exit rules on Sundays to ensure the safety of the large volume of passengers traversing the narrow platforms.

There is a little bit of everything at Camden Lock Market, and you are sure to see many interesting things, not the least of which being the passersby.

The Stables Market is one of the largest sections of Camden Markets, and one of the most renowned. A great many of the stalls sell clothing of various types, and there are quite a few vendors selling unique home furnishings and secondhand furniture.

The Stables Market has made a name for itself as a centre of alternative fashion in London, such as goth and cybergoth designs. Black Rose and Cyberdog are two well known vendors at this market, carrying everything from black coffin-shaped purses to neon PVC and rubber cyber gear.

The other markets are somewhat smaller and carry their own special array of goods. Camden Lock Village has unusual vendors like a drum specialist and a glass engraver.

Buck Street Market is known for its clubwear and accessories.

Inverness Street Market has been supplying Camden Town with fruits and vegetables since at least 1900, although in recent years the influx of supermarkets to the area has reduced the number of such vendors. You can still get plenty of fresh produce there, however, in addition to bargain footwear and souvenirs as well.

Camden Market in London are an exciting and delightful place to shop and people-watch.
