Cargo in London
– Shoreditch Scene with an Edge

Cargo London

Cargo in London is located in a converted railway arch in Shoreditch. It boasts one of the best sound systems for both live performances and dance music. Its chilled atmosphere and reputation for quality music has made it a long time favourite with locals and people from all over London.

As one of the first clubs to open in this area, Cargo can say it was one of the places that started the whole “Shoreditch Scene” movement.

The club hosts the best of the underground music scene, everything from hip hop to world music. You can increasingly see live acts like the Neon Noise Project, the Field, and Devotchka.

Most evenings also have DJs spinning non-stop dance music for a crowd of serious dance fans; at Cargo people care more about the beat than they do about how they look dancing to it. They also have indie film screenings and street art on exhibit in their newly renovated garden courtyard, and Cargo hosts events like Sunday Photobooth Special, giving patrons and chance to participate in a photo exhibit.

You can expect a mixed crowd of city boys, students, suits after work, and assorted hipsters.

Cargo is not as trendy as it once was, but the quality of the music and events has done nothing but increase over the years, making this an excellent choice for people who come to clubs for the music and dance, not just to follow a trend. It has a relaxed and laid back atmosphere very much in keeping with its Spanish influence.

The first arch has a large raised seating area which is a nice spot to sit with a drink and watch the activities.

There is a restaurant on the premises serving interesting street-food with a Spanish influence, and don’t miss the summer barbeque in the courtyard area. Drink and food specials make this one of the less expensive places to go out and spend an enjoyable night on the town.

Fridays are free at Cargo in London so even the cash-strapped music lover can get a chance to experience what this great club has to offer.
