City Airport in London information is very useful for travellers heading to central London. The airport is located about 10 miles from the West End and Westminster, and about 3 miles from Canary Wharf.




London City Airport specializes in business travel, and boasts the quickest check-ins and a “no queues” policy regarding the security process.

The best way to travel by car to the airport is to go via the A1011/Limehouse Link road and then take the A13 and follow the road signs leading to the airport. The trip into central London from the airport should be about 30 to 40 minutes, and the Congestion Charge will apply to all cars heading into the area during weekdays.

Quay Vennards is the chauffeur service operating at the airport, and trips can be booked in advance or upon arrival.

The airport also bills itself as having the longest taxi rank in Europe, and licensed Black Cabs are available for hire directly outside the terminal building.

Bus services to and from the airport are regular routes and will get you easily into central London.

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an overland rail system that connects East London to the rest of the Underground Network, and there is a station at the London City Airport terminal, making it easy for travellers to link in to the system. The trip from the London City Station to Canning Town takes about 7 minutes, and from Canning Town you can take the Jubilee line to the nearby London Bridge, Stratford International, or Waterloo Stations.

In addition, the Silvertown and City Airport Station is about a 5 minute walk from the airport, and from there you can connect to the Highbury and Islington Tube Station and onwards into central London.
