One of the best East London pubs is Bar Kick. If you are looking for something unusual and special, you can’t go wrong with this table football themed pub. It’s the larger and younger brother to Café Kick, which is a more restaurant-like incarnation of Bar Kick.

Bar Kick is located in an old Shoreditch warehouse and has an eclectic and interestingly shabby décor, full of mismatched furniture and hanging pictures of continental football teams and old cigar advertisements.

Flags of all nations hang from the ceiling.

You can certainly catch any real football match that might be going on, there are plenty of screens to go around, but the real attraction are the bar football tables. There are eight in all, four tables on each level, which means even on the most crowded nights you have a pretty good chance at playing a game or two. It is the biggest table football bar in Europe and as such, draws fans of the sport from all over the world.

The downstairs area is often the venue for table football tournaments, and they also do a regular Comedy Night, film screenings, and cabaret nights in the lower level as well.

In spite of the buzz of the crowd, Bar Kick has a very laid back and friendly vibe, you feel rather like you are spending an enjoyable evening at your cool continental friend’s place.

The drinks are quite a stand out at Bar Kick, they serve an interesting assortment of imported bottled beers and cocktails. Mojitos and Caipirinhas are always a favourite here, and they have some special drinks of their own creation such as the “Sweet Mexican Kick” a combination of gold tequila and fruit juices.

The menu is a Mediterranean themed variety, mainly sandwiches and European gastro fare, but done quite well with mainly organic ingredients. Bar Kick makes quite an effort to source local and small family suppliers wherever possible and you can taste the difference this extraordinary effort makes in the quality of their food.

There are many East London pubs, but none quite so much fun as Bar Kick.
