Fabric Nightclub
– Old School Atmosphere

Fabric Nightclub in London

Fabric Nightclub was opened in 1999 by Cameron Leslie and Keith Reilly in trendy Clerkenwell. It sits opposite the Smithfield Meat Market and the building it occupies was originally used back in Victorian times as cold storage for meats.

Nowadays, it is an enormous nightclub, more than 25,000 square feet of party heaven with a capacity of 2,500.

Fabric is a legendary mega-club, playing a variety of electro, house music, breakbeat, and drum ‘n bass. It has forged a worldwide reputation of excellence by consistently hosting quality musical acts without being afraid to bring in new and diverse talents.

On Friday nights “Fabriclive” showcases the best in techno, hip hop, scratch, and house. Craig Richards, Roots Manuva, and DJ Spinbad are just a few of the many performers that you could see at the club.

Inside is rough angles and exposed brick, it is a tremendously dark and cavernous space. Ignore the minimalist dιcor; music and dancing are the real reasons to head to Fabric.

There are 3 main areas, each with a dance floor that is cleverly hidden from view of the other areas.

Fabric has 5 sound systems, arguably the best in the area. One room has a “bodysonic” sound system where speakers are actually set into the floor, carrying the bass up through your feet to your whole body.

In spite of the club's immense capacity, the crowds of people are packed tight on the dance floor. Forget about quiet conversation, the music is loud and the dance beat irresistible. Fabric is a nightclub designed for the serious clubber who wants total immersion in the music and to dance the night away.

On Fridays and Saturdays, make sure to get there quite early, otherwise you may have to wait in the queue that sometimes stretches around the block. Alternatively, you could arrive at around 3AM when some of the best music starts spinning; the tourists have all gone home to sleep it off leaving lots of room for the serious clubbers. Once you get in, you can stay and dance all night as the music plays on until morning.

Happily, when you finally stumble out blinking into the morning light, there are many nearby breakfast spots, too. Fabric Nightclub is a must-have clubbing experience.
