Princess Diana Shopped for Make-Up at Harvey Nichols
The shop
Londoners love Harvey Nichols as it is the city's most chic department store and fabulous for London shopping.
It opened in the 1880s and is famous for its innovative window displays. There is a great buzz to the store and it has a very youthful feel. On the ground floor there is a magnificent beauty hall, with every brand imaginable. If you can't find a particular beauty product here, well then it doesn't exist. Some of the popular labels in the store are Ralph Lauren, Armani Collezioni and Paul Smith. On the third floor, you will find Gwen Stefani's label LAMB and the Jimmy Choo salon. There is also an ultra-trendy beauty bar that can sell you 10 minutes of fresh air!

Why go there?
A great reason to visit the store is of course The Fifth Floor Restaurant.
This gorgeous oval room can seat up to 110 diners in lovely soft lighting and designer white chairs. The restaurant uses the fresh produce from the adjacent food hall - now that's very handy! Cast your roving eye around the room and you just might see a celebrity or two. The head chef is Jonas Karlsson and his roasted organic Shetland cod is highly recommended. When you are finished your meal why not visit the Fifth Floor Bar? Now is the time to have a classic cocktail and give yourself a little break from all that shopping!

Did you know ...
Harvey Nichols was a firm favourite of the late Princess Diana.
She was interested in make-up and trying new products and would read the make-up tips in Vogue magazine. She would then tear out the page and go to Harvey Nics in Knightsbridge to have a look. The store sold her favourite perfume - Kenzo. But she didn't expect Harvey Nics to close just for her. Even though she was the most famous woman in the world, she became excited when she spotted other celebrities. When she recognized someone famous, she would smile and wave at them - and sometimes they would be embarrassed!
