Harvey Nicks
- Londoners Love Their Harvey Nichols

Harvey Nicks is the fashionista’s pet name for Harvey Nichols, a landmark store in London. The name was coined by the legendary BBC comedy “Absolutely Fabulous”, where main characters Patsy and Edina are enamoured with this ultra-chic retailer.

Harvey Nicks

The ladies on the show regularly head over to Harvey Nichols for their dose of “retail therapy”, and they aren’t the only ones. The store is a haven for those who love fashion and all things trendy and new.

All of this glam doesn’t come cheaply, but for those with money to burn, Harvey Nichols is the place to be.

The store has occupied its enviable location in Knightsbridge for nearly 200 years, evolving from a simple linens store to the epitome of haute couture and conspicuous consumption that we see today. Since 2003 the store has been owned by Hong Kong businessman Dr Dickson Poon who runs a retail empire that stretches across the globe.

Harvey Nichols has maintained a consistent focus on luxury goods and high fashion clothing, especially aimed towards women, that has stood it in good stead over the years; even a worldwide recession can’t seem to get them down. Indeed, even when the national economy flags and weakens the pound, this store comes out on top as scores of international visitors pour in to take advantage of their increased buying power.

Harvey Nichols is quite popular with celebrities and the young and wealthy, largely because it has a more modern vibe than some of the other luxury stores in London. There is nothing stodgy or even traditional about this place, it's hip and chic and even a bit wild.

This is where you would find that special dress or fantastic shoes recently spotted on some A-list celebrity. There are three floors of women’s contemporary clothing from which to choose, and although prices are quite high, the seasonal sales are actually a good place to score big bargains.

The fifth floor restaurant at Harvey Nichols is a great place to observe the beautiful people in their natural habitat.

Harvey Nicks is the best!
