The Hilton London on Park Lane
- A Frenzy Filming Location

Hilton London Park Lane

The Hilton London on Park Lane overlooks Hyde Park and is located in the fashionable Mayfair district. It boasts some of the best views in the city and is also the home of Trader Vic’s, the venerable and quite rightly famous Polynesian restaurant in London. Trader Vic’s was the originator of the Mai Tai, a popular drink containing rum, lime juice, and other tropical ingredients.

Another claim to fame for this Hilton hotel is that it was used in the filming of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie Frenzy in 1972. Frenzy was Hitchcock’s last horror/thriller film and many people think this movie was his most shocking. The film is set in a London that is in the grip of a crime wave; a serial killer is raping and murdering young women in the city.

When the down on his luck bartender Richard Blaney (Jon Finch) loses his job, he visits his ex-wife Brenda (Barbara Leigh-Hunt) looking for help. When she is later found raped and murdered, he is distressed to learn that he is now the chief suspect.

When Blaney’s girlfriend Babs Milligan (Anna Massey) is the next to fall victim to the monstrous killer, he is arrested for the crimes.

We know he is innocent, and that the killer is his best friend Bob Rusk (Barry Foster), but we are left wondering how things will all work out in the end. In typical Hitchcock fashion, the story unfolds with equal measures of suspense, horror, and dark humour.

The London Hilton on Park Lane is featured in Frenzy when Richard Blaney seeks out a friend who lives there, hoping to get some assistance with his dilemma. However, his friend's wife doesn't want to get involved and sends them packing. We see her gazing out of the second floor balcony while Blaney and Babs flee from the hotel.

The Hilton London on Park Lane has a very recognizable facade which is perhaps why it was chosen as a filming location for the movie.
