London French Restaurants
– L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon

London French Restaurants

London French restaurants are rarely as special as L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon.

Joel Robuchon is an internationally renowned culinary expert and his restaurants are well known for their excellence and their Michelin stars.

L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon is no exception; it is one of the few restaurants in London to boast two Michelin stars.

The restaurant has an interesting concept where the diners play an interactive role in the dining experience.

The majority of the restaurant seating is at a large counter that circles the kitchen area, allowing patrons and the staff to see one another throughout the evening.

This allows the chef to see the patrons’ reaction to his food and also allows the diners to see their food being prepared before their eyes.

At the London location, there are also another 20 seats where diners can sit opposite each other if a more traditional seating arrangement is preferred.

The décor is sleek and glamorous, all red and black with a distinct Japanese influence.

The staff is well-trained and French, expect the best in European service here.

The menu is French with Italian and Spanish influences.

You can order from several fixed price menu options, the Lunch and Pre-theatre menus are especially good value.

The Menu Decouverte is the king of the fixed price menus.

It has 10 courses including such delights as Parmesan Cappuccino with Port, Caviar, White Asparagus Jelly, Seared Scallop Fregola with Lobster Foam, and Free-range Quail with Truffled Mashed Potatoes.

There is also a menu of Small Tasting Dishes such as Iberian Ham with Toasted Tomato Bread, Scottish Lobster with Spiced Turnips, “Le Pied de Cochon” (Pig Trotter on Parmesan Toast) and Sautéed Squid with Baby Artichokes, Chorizo, and Tomato Water.

Desserts are various decadent combinations of chocolate, sorbets, and fruits which are sure to please almost any palate, and they are listed in the menu with dessert wine recommendations which are spot on.

London French restaurants don’t come any better than L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon.
