Unmissable London Tourist Attractions – Battersea’s Sambrook’s Brewery
One of the most delightful London tourist attractions is Sambrook’s Brewery. The brewery was founded in 2008 by ex-accountant Duncan Sambrook and David Welsh, the previous managing director of Ringwood Brewery.

Sambrook’s dream to bring brewing back to central London began in 2006 when he started his journey towards becoming a brewer. An instrumental step on his path was the week he spent at the University of Sunderland taking their Brewing Fundamentals Course; despite the lecturer’s best efforts to discourage students from entering the brewing industry, Sambrook emerged even more determined to make a go of his ideas. A meeting with David Welsh snowballed into a partnership; and the rest is brewing history. Sambrook’s Brewery is a 20 barrel plant that has been marketing its Wandle Ale for over a year now. The ale is named after the Wandle, a Thames tributary that runs through South West London. It was popular spot for trout fishing in the 18th and 19th century, and the cleanup of the riverways in recent years has made it possible for trout to once again thrive there. Wandle Ale has a hoppy aroma and taste that comes from using the very best locally sourced ingredients and traditional brewing methods, and it has 3.8% ABV. The brewery is currently marketing its newest offering, Junction Ale, which is named after the local train station. Junction Ale is a strong brew, clocking in at 4.5% ABV, with a spicy aroma and deep amber tint. There are many pubs that carry Sambrook’s Brewery products, and many retail shops where you can buy the ales to take home. The Sambrook’s Brewery tour is quite a treat. They offer open evenings on the third Wednesday of each month, or you can arrange an evening or weekend group tour of your own with a minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 people. You can make your tour even more special by arranging for the tour to continue at The Westbridge, a venerable old pub in Battersea that stocks the brewery’s offerings. London tourist attractions are rarely as delicious as Sambrook’s Brewery.
