Notting Hill Arts Club in London
– A Shot of Subterranean Cool

Notting Hill Arts Club London

Notting Hill Arts Club in London is a basement club nestled in fashionable Notting Hill. It has a vibrant, indie feel with an enthusiastic crowd gathering for events every night of the week in rather shabby surroundings.

The Arts Club is a cross between an underground arts club and a cool cocktail lounge. It draws in the cool and arty from all across the city, but manages to feel quite genuine, and not pretentious.

One side of the subterranean club is the bar; the other side has a dance floor. It is a small venue, with only a 218 person capacity and on popular nights this fills up fast. This place has a bit of a reputation as a heavy pour, with 50 ml pours being the norm, so keep that in mind when ordering from the well-stocked bar.

The Notting Hill Arts Club is a good place to come to hear the music, dance, have a chat with your friends, or all of the above. With lots of comfortable seating and tables available, the venue is small enough to feel intimate but large enough that you can blend in comfortably with the friendly and down to earth crowd.

Notting Hill Arts Club is known for their cutting edge music and trend-setting performances. They welcome new talent and new sounds, frequently featuring live bands as well as DJs spinning an eclectic array of sounds.

On Saturday afternoons, admission is free as the record label Rough Trade showcases new talent in their popular Rota Sessions.

Some of the regular attractions at the Club are “Bombay Bronx”, blending Indian music with NYC Rap, and DJ Derek’s amazing “Sweet Memory Sounds” where he spins from a massive collection of reggae and soul.

“Death Disco” with Alan McGee has featured such guest DJs as Courtney Love, Mick Jones, and Tony James. “YoYo” is a night of hip hop variety featuring some old skool favourites.

The club is also known for its wild and innovative Craft Nights, attendees are presented with a kit when they arrive containing all they need to complete their craft; assistance, spare parts, and good music are available all night.

Notting Hill Arts Club in London has something for almost everyone, and is absolutely worth the trip.
