Opening Hours in London
- Call Ahead to be Sure

Opening hours in London are a consideration you should look into before you make the trip to whichever store, museum, or local sight you are planning to see. For the most part, London attractions are open all year long, due to the region’s temperate climate.

Opening Hours in London

The area has a reputation for changeable weather, but locals never let a bit of rain drown out their plans.

Most London attractions and museums will be open either Tuesday through Sunday, or Monday through Saturday; even museums need a day off it seems. The opening hours here tends to be around 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, although this may vary a bit with many attractions staying open a bit later in the summer months.

Many museums and sightseeing locations will also have at least one night a week where they are open late, and they often offer special deals or events to coincide with those hours. The two holidays that most attractions close for are Christmas Day and Boxing Day, although there may also be other holiday closures depending on the venue.

London offices and shops will generally be open Mondays through Fridays, from about 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday hours are often 10:00 AM to 7:00 or 8:00 PM.

Shops in central London may also be open on Sunday afternoons, but smaller shops will often be closed on Sundays. Thursday evenings are when large shops are often open longer hours, often until 8:00 or 9:00 PM.

Grocery stores are open during regular business hours, with an increasing number of them staying open quite late, or even 24 hours a day.

Restaurant opening times vary widely, with some open at the crack of dawn for breakfast service, while others don’t start serving until the noontime lunch crowd rolls around. You may also find that fine dining establishments will close for a few hours in the afternoons, between the lunch and dinner service, so early birds take note.

Opening hours in London can always be confirmed with a quick phone call, as well.
