Ralph Lauren Polo Shirts
- Enduring Style on Bond Street

Ralph Lauren Polo Shirts have been a classic part of the wardrobe of many men since they were introduced as part of the product line that launched globally in 1981. This distinctive short-sleeved knit shirt adorned with the embroidered logo of a polo player is as popular now as it was back in the 1980s when “preppy” dressers adopted it as a virtual uniform.

The polo shirt made a quick transition from sporting gear to fashion statement and these days Polo Ralph Lauren offers this shirt in more than 30 imaginative colours including numerous shades of pink and purple.

The Bond Street location (pictured) of Polo Ralph Lauren opened in 1999 in Mayfair and it is truly a lovely thing to behold. It occupies the building that formerly housed the National Westminster Bank and boasts a fabulous Art Deco interior based on a fusion of classic luxury ocean liner design from the 1920s and traditional British gentleman’s club style.

The resulting conglomeration of working fireplaces, cosy nooks, and mahogany panelling makes the perfect backdrop for a deeply traditional collection of clothing and home furnishings.

Polo Ralph Lauren has created a dream world of elegance and style which seems impossibly traditional and uniquely British, although its namesake creator was actually born to struggling Jewish immigrants in the Bronx, New York City.

Ralph Liptshitz changed his name to Lauren and in 1967 launched his empire with a modest loan and a small collection of men’s neckties. Lauren created a dreamworld of luxurious old-money style that has proven irresistible to consumers all over the world.

In 1984, Lauren opened his first flagship store in the old Rhinelander Mansion at 867 Madison Avenue, New York.

At the Bond Street location, shoppers can choose from the high-end ultra-traditional Purple Label men’s ready to wear, the more modern and sleeker-fitting Black Label collection, as well as the standard Polo brand of menswear.

The top floor of the store is dedicated to women’s clothing, with several collections from couture to casual housed here.

Ralph Lauren Polo Shirts are a testament to the business acumen and design genius of Ralph Lauren himself.
