Best Restaurants in Central London
- Rhodes W1 Brasserie

Restaurants in Central London

Rhodes W1 Brasserie is one of many restaurants in central London. It is located in The Cumberland Hotel (pictured) near the Marble Arch tube station, and there is a private entrance to the brasserie on Great Cumberland Place, next to the main hotel entrance. The restaurant was launched in the summer of 2005 by celebrity chef Gary Rhodes and the menu features his take on Modern European cuisine with a decidedly British twist.

The decor is stylish and modern without being cold or stark. The contemporary design makes use of coloured lighting and unusual furnishings to create a vibrant and hip yet welcoming cocktail bar and dining area.

You will find more than a few things to tempt you on the menu at Rhodes W1. Brown Shrimp Soup with shrimp sesame toast is a popular starter. Another more traditional starter is Fresh British Asparagus with mousserons mushrooms, and for the adventurous, how about the Truffled Macaroni Cheese with chestnut mushrooms?

Main courses like Grilled whole Lemon Sole with shrimps and pistachio butter and Duck leg confit with lyonnaise potatoes, wholegrain mustard, café au lait sauce and crisp Parma ham show off Gary Rhodes’ refined yet playful attitude towards cooking.

One notable thing about Rhodes W1 is that unlike many such establishments, the portion size is quite generous; nobody will be walking away hungry from this table.

Rhodes W1 Brasserie recently began serving a special Sunday Roast menu from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Sundays. It is a fixed price, 3 course meal, and children under 12 eat at half price.

Sunday lunch holds a special place in the heart of many Londoners, and this restaurant is a great place to indulge in this pleasant ritual. Traditional Poached Eggs Benedict is on the menu, along with the more unusual Chicken Liver Parfait with grape chutney. Of course the star of the show is the roast, and you may choose from a Roast Rib of Beef with Yorkshire Pudding and caramelized onion gravy or Roast Pork Belly with Bramley Sauce.

Rhodes W1 Restaurant is a tribute to British cooking done right.
