Stansted Airport information about transportation is essential. The airport is a modern, growing international airport and is located about 40 miles from central London.




Driving by car to and from Stansted Airport via the M11 motorway is the recommended route, you will take the 8 or 8a Junction depending on which way you are heading. Expect travel time between Stansted and central London to be about 60 to 85 minutes, and as always, weekday travel into central London means you must pay the Congestion Charge.

Private transfers services are a nice way to travel, you are met at the arrivals, escorted to your car, and delivered to your destination with no hassles or waiting; be sure to book private transfers in advance of your arrival.

Unlike most airports, Stansted Airport does not have a taxi queue so if you plan to travel by taxi you will want to book with Checker Cars in advance of your arrival, or you can call to book a cab once you arrive using the courtesy phones located near baggage claim.

Bus and coach service from Stansted is commonly available. easyBus, National Express, and Terravision run regular routes from Stansted to Victoria Station and other locations in London.

Travel times for coach services varies, anywhere from 45 to 120 minutes depending on the number of stops on the route. The coach and bus station is located across the street from the airport terminal.

Stansted Airport has a train that runs from the terminal to Liverpool Street in London. The Stansted Express runs every 15 minutes, the trip into London takes about 45 minutes, and the trains run from very early until very late. The train also stops at Bishop's Stortford, Harlow Town, and Tottenham Hale.

Passengers can link up with the London Underground at the Tottenham Hale or Liverpool Street stations.
