Tennis in London - Love at First Sight
Tennis in London is easy to find. Some clubs are exclusive with long waiting lists for membership and are open only to those lucky few, some are open to anyone who wants to play, but many clubs fall somewhere in between; they open to the public for hourly rates but offer discounts and special benefits to those who wish to become members.

Tennis is a very popular sport in London, and the number of facilities where one can play the game is testament to this popularity. Regent's Park Tennis Centre (pictured) is a public tennis facility that has a very club-like feel. It has 12 hard surface courts, a changing area with showers, and a café. The centre is open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, but they do charge an additional floodlight fee for night play. Visitors can book their court times a day in advance at Regent's Park. The Hyde Park tennis area is located on the south side of the park, near the Royal Albert Hall. It is one of the smaller tennis facilities, with only 6 courts available. This location is also open all year long, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the winter, and 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM in the summer. One of the largest tennis areas in London is Wimbledon Park. This municipal park is located just to the east of the world famous All England Lawn Tennis Club where the Wimbledon Championships take place each year. There are 10 synthetic turf courts and 10 asphalt courts at Wimbledon Park. Half of the courts have lights which allow them to be open each day from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM; the unlit courts close at dusk. Those wishing to play tennis here can book a court time on the day that you wish to play, and pay an hourly rate. Playing tennis in London makes it easy to get a bit of healthy fun and exercise while on a visit to the city.
