Top Bars in London
- Little Havana at Floridita

Top Bars in London

Of all the top bars in London, there is only one that pays homage to the culture and style of Cuba and Havana in particular, and that is Floridita. Located on Wardour Street in Soho, Floridita London has a Cuban theme, emulating the flair and style of Havana’s “El Floridita” during its 1930s heyday.

The cocktail lounge at Floridita boasts the largest and most comprehensive collection of rums in Europe, so if you are a fan of rum-based drinks, this is the place to be. Another special offering at Floridita is the Cuban cigars, they carry an extensive collection of some of the world’s finest cigars, and they actually roll some of them on site.

The decor at Floridita is clean and modern, with a tip of the hat to 1930s cocktail lounge style. Leather seating areas in a red and black colour scheme and mirrored walls give it a casual and open look. There are lots of places to sit at Floridita, and they are all very comfortable.

One outstanding feature here is the spiral staircase. Descending it can put you in mind of the old Hollywood films where the lead characters sweep elegantly down such things to join the nightclub crowds.

People dress to impress here, so put on something amazing and remember your wallet because an experience this fabulous doesn’t come cheaply.

As you might expect, rum drinks are a major focus at Floridita. You may already be a fan of drinks such as Mojitos and Daiquiris, but you will come away from Floridita with a new appreciation for such things.

In keeping with their heritage, Floridita has a mix of old and new on their drinks menu. “Ten of the Best” is a listing of ten of the most famed authors, actors, and personalities to visit El Floridita during its peak years and their favourite drinks. F. Scott Fitzgerald favoured the Old Fashioned, while Ernest Hemingway warranted his own “Hemingway Special” which is fine rum mixed with grapefruit, lime, and maraschino cherry.

Few top bars in London can boast the pedigree of Floridita.
