Wimbledon Tennis Tickets
- Summer's Hot Event

Wimbledon Tennis Championship Ticket

Wimbledon Tennis tickets are quite sought after items when summer rolls around and thoughts turn to the game of lawn tennis.

The Wimbledon Championships are the oldest and most prestigious tennis championships in the world, and the event has been held at the All England Club since 1877. As you might imagine, getting tickets for the matches can be quite challenging.

Many tickets are obtained by a public ballot that is held at the beginning of each year. The club also issues debentures to tennis fans once every five years to raise capital for expenditures. Those who invest in those debentures are issued two tickets for each of the days of the Wimbledon Championships for the next five years.

These tickets are transferable and debenture holders often sell their tickets to the public either through middlemen or directly over the Internet. Tickets of this sort have become much more widely available in recent years, which has happily driven down the prices.

Those who would like show court tickets must generally queue up overnight in order to ensure that they get a place, and people from all over the world bring tents and sleeping bags and queue up eagerly for this event.

Tradition reigns at Wimbledon, and it can be seen everywhere. Competitors must wear white or predominantly white clothing, and when the Queen or the Prince of Wales is present at a match, the competitors at centre court will either bow or curtsy to the monarch.

Players are referred to as "Miss" or "Mr" and married women will see their husband's name up on the score board as well. Even the food and drink are traditional favourites; strawberries and cream and a Pimm's Cup or Spritzer are certainly refreshing ways to cool off while enjoying a match. Wimbledon is a truly special event with a distinctly British flair.

Wimbledon Tennis tickets are something every visitor to London with even a passing interest in tennis should try to get.
